Chana dal |
Tamarind Rice:
Ingredients:-
Grind item Masala Powder:
1 tsp coriander seed/dhania seeds
1 tsp chana dal/split bengal gram
1 tsp urad dal/split black lentils
2 -3 dry red chillies, broken into pieces
2 tsp sesame seeds
Asafoetida/hing
1 tbsp peanuts
1/2 tsp chana dal /split bengal gram
1/2 tsp urad dal/split black lentils
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 cup tamarind extract
2 1/2 cups cooked rice/ leftover rice
salt to taste

2 tsp sesame seeds
Method:
- Heat a small pan, dry roast all the ingredients on a slow flame till they turn golden brown in colour, then Keep aside till cool.
- Then blend in a mixer to a fine powder.
For Cooking:
1 tbsp gingelly oil/sesame oil
Few curry leavesAsafoetida/hing
1 tbsp peanuts
1/2 tsp chana dal /split bengal gram
1/2 tsp urad dal/split black lentils
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 cup tamarind extract
2 1/2 cups cooked rice/ leftover rice
salt to taste
Method:
- Heat the oil, add the peanuts and stir till they turn light pink in colour.
- Add the chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, Asafoetida and turmeric powder, saute on a medium flame for a minute.
- Add the tamarind extract, mix well and cook till the mixture thickens.
- Then add the Grind Masala powder, cooked rice and salt and mix till combined well.
