Simple South Indian Spiced Pumpkin Masala Recipe


For the tempering:
2 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
a few curry leaves
1 or 2 red Chillies, broken (instead of using Green Chillies)
a pinch of asafoetida
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp red chilli powder


For the cooking:
1-2 cup Water
salt to taste


Method : 
1) Heat oil and add the mustard seeds.

2) When they start to crackle, add few Curry Leaves, Dry Chillies,Onion,Garlic and a pinch of Asafoetida/hing. Fry for a minute.till the onion turn slightly brown (don't let it burn).

3) Add the Turmeric Powder then add Chillies Powder and fry for a minute.

4) Now add the pumpkin, followed by water and salt to taste. 

5)Cooked for 10-15 min.
